District Leadership
TransParent Edge provides a systematic approach to inform families about the district's efforts in the areas of curriculum and assessment. This application establishes a foundation for districts to reach out to families with information about the expectations for each course that the student is taking as well as multiple reports and profiles on student performance. The TransParent Edge reduces the district's costs in providing parents and guardians with copies of student assessment data including report card and transcript information.
Principals and Site Leadership
TransParent Edge enables principals and site leaders with a means to communicate with families about their children's performance using multiple measures of achievement. This provides a more accurate and set of data than just single measures (such as grades or testing) that help principals explain to parents the different evidence that is used to understand a child's level of performance and the support needed to achieve mastery.
Teachers
The TransParent Edge leverages the work that teachers already do to assess their students and provides that information to families without extra work on the part of teachers. The application provides information to families on a timely basis - as teachers correct student work - rather than waiting until the marking term to inform the home of specific needs. The application also disseminates comments made by the teacher about specific assignments. By combining multiple measures, the TransParent Edge fosters deeper discussions about student performance and how best to support each child.
Families
The Transparent Edge provides families with a comprehensive set of student performance measures including grades, rubrics, and testing. This information enables families to understand how students are performing in class, what assignments are missing, and how students differ in their test achievements versus classroom-based assessments. The Transparent Edge also provides families with access to their children's standards-based report cards and final grades, so that they know exactly how well their children are performing at all times not just the end of the marking term.
